Present Activities

Acknowledging the need for some effective intervention, the Foundation has chosen "School Mental Health Programme" as its current thrust area. Since its formal inauguration just three months back, the Foundation has done some commendable work in various schools in Thrissur District, in the following areas:

  • Awareness programmes in schools regarding ill-effects of chewed tobacco abuse (Ghutka).
  • De-addiction programs for students (for Ghutka) and for their parents (for alchoholism).
  • Life skills development programmes in eight schools - focusing on high school and higher secondary schools.
  • Study skills training workshops and career guidance counselling in the above centres.

Proposed Activities

The Foundation proposes to develop the following for its future activities:

  • Detailed syllabus for a "Life skills training programme" for high school/ higher secondary school students.
  • Development of a manual for special education for children with Learning Disabilities.
  • Developing a service model for children with substance abuse.
  • Integrated School Mental Health programme.
  • Identification of students with low IQ / mild MR
  • Publication of a printed magazine / e-journal for dissemination of information amoung the public.
  • Establishing a state-wide network of Barefoot Counsellors / Counselling centres.

Careers

Foundation for Social Health (NGO) hereby calling for applications for KAAVAL Project in Thrissur for the following posts:

1. Project Coordinator

Qualification: MSW / MA (Psychology or Sociology)
4 to 5 years of Field Experience in the field of Child Welfare preferred.
Expected Salary: Around Rs. 17,500/- pm (plus TA as applicable)

2. Field Worker

Qualification: MSW
1 year Field Experience in the field of Child Welfare preferred (Freshers can also apply).
Expected Salary: Around Rs. 12,500/- pm (plus TA as applicable)

Candidates living in and around Thrissur will be given additional preference. Should be able to join the Project immediately.
